Tongbei
Training Exercises with Master Zhao Ya Jun,
from Beijing with the Zhonghua Wushu Wuxing Tongbiquan Association.
_ Three-DVD set. Excerpts from some 5
hours of foundation training in early morning practice before breakfast
at China Camp 2007. A comprehensive exercise review of the
little known Tong Bei Quan style of martial arts. Tong bei is said to
be pre-Chen style taijiquan. Master Zhao emphasizes moves to loosen
the upper body and quicken the lower body in his multitude of exercises
that he leads in front of the Tian Lun Hotel in San Qing Shan, Jiangxi
Province, China. Master Zhao leads drills in a variety of movements,
progressing from loosening wrist joints, elbows, shoulders, hips, etc.
to complex full-body applications. He demonstrates applications of basic
moves and gives numerous pointers and detailed instructions on how to
perform them more perfectly. Good warm-up for loosening and structurally
connecting. Three very instructional videos that you can follow along
with as he goes through drills. Part 1 (December 4,
2007) introduces moves and detailed explanations on how to use the back
and dantien to perform them. Part 2 (Dec. 6 & 8,
2007) contains an excellent translation by Master David Leung who participates
with Master Zhao in demonstrating moves and explaining details. They
review some moves practiced on Dec. 4 video. Part 3
(Dec. 12 & 13, 2007) reviews many drills practiced all week, followed

Wu Ji Lan Shou Lecture. Discussion and demonstration of principles
and techniques of the lan shou system. Very application-oriented. "Sink
the qi and raise the shen," is one of the many succinct, to-the-point
statements that Master Wu makes in this presentation in his typical good-natured
and non-judgmental manner. Translated into English by Master George Xu.

by confessing that he is not a good speaker, then gives a most honest
