Durango Tai Chi Instruction offers courses on principles and practices essential to taijiquan and other Chinese internal martial arts styles and traditions. Courses include qigong and taiji stretching, basic exercises, form, and sensitivity training. Work is done on the physical and energetic levels. Discovering, cultivating and utilizing your own personal reservoir of energy is the overarching goal of continued practice. Beginner courses focus primarily on health and well-being, while introducing martial/self-defense information. Intermediate to advanced incorporate more martial/self-defense applications in addition to health and well-being. Private and semi-private instruction is available. AUGUST SCHEDULE: Eight Classes on Tuesdays - Sept. 14, 21, 28; Oct. 5. 12. 19. 26; Nov. 2. Minimum of 3 learners required. Additional Classes on Sundays at 9:30 or 1:30 pm for make up and punch pass user. Must sign up and commit to attending. (Please Note: unused punch passes will expire at the end of September, so please attend classes or forfeit them.) the Dragon Journal Much about taiji is doing the basics, which are the common denominators of any taiji practice, and characterized by repetitive single movements in various directions. Simple, but with amazing results for health and fitness training, as well as martial application. The "form" sequence connects postures with transitions, incorporating principles in a continuous flowing movement. I focus on basics and form sequence in class, along with stretching and qigong. The form is the framework for long-term practice and in-depth learning, because it helps you to emphasize the internal aspects of taiji.
