Integrating
Six into One.

Learn intention from conscious, deliberate movement. Practice enough with a seeking mind and you will discover something marvelous about movement. It replicates on a larger scale the inner workings of things. What the mind perceives is only a shadow of the mystery that it does at all. Exercise your mind and the body will follow.

Learn Tai Chi, Learn Qigong
Taijiquan (tai chi) integrates mind and body movement for health and well-being. Tai chi exercise produces many beneficial effects for overall health and well-being. Qigong (Chee 'gong) translates as Energy, or Lifeforce, Work. At Durango Tai Chi we learn and practice Tai Chi and Qigong exercises that cultivate energy and strengthen the body.
Tai Chi Benefits
Sharpen your mental acuity, develop better balance and posture, better blood circulation, strengthen bones, joints, ligaments, and tendons, feel more energetic, improve mind-body coordination, reduce stress, improve lung function, . . . . feel BETTER!
The "Art" of Tai Chi and Tai Chi as a Martial Art
The history of tai chi is a rather long one, steeped in legend, as well as fact. Since tai chi is originally a martial art, you will also learn martial techniques and applications in your practice at Durango Tai Chi. As our teacher, Master George Xu (Xu Guo Ming), has said often, "Tai chi is martial art, not martial work. Minimum effort, maximum result."

Qigong
Learn Qigong sets that you can practice as a meditation that helps to heal illnesses.
Push Hands
Tui Shou is a two-person practice of the internal principles of tai chi. It is essential in reflecting back to us the knowledge we are gathering in our practice.
Tai Chi Club
Tai Chi can be practiced alone or in a group, and both have special benefits. In China, tai chi is very much a social interaction. Groups all over practice the form and push hands. Our dream is to grow into the Durango Tai Chi Club to offer chances to meet others with similar interests and to practice all things tai chi. Member dues go into an admin budget and a pool to host special visitors and events.
